Lillian Kanera, age 101, of 1634 S. 16th Street, Manitowoc, went to her eternal rest on Saturday, October 24, 2015.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at St. Francis of Assisi, Grand location, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. David Pleier with entombment at Calvary Mausoleum, Manitowoc.She was born March 29, 1914 at home in Larabee, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Joseph and Rose Novachek. On June 24, 1933, she married Wenzel J. Kanera at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Mishicot. He preceded her in death on February 2, 1999. She worked as a sales person at the Menges' Grocery Store in Larabee, and an assembler for the Tinsel Factory in Manitowoc. She was also a terrific wife, mother, and homemaker. She volunteered for the St. Vincent De Paul Society, the Manitowoc Senior Center, and was an honorary member of the former St. Therese Society.Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Anne and Mack Slattery, Manitowoc; two grandsons Brian J. Slattery (DeAnne), Carmel, Indiana, and Matthew R. Slattery (Mary Kay), Two Rivers; five great-grandchildren, Molly, Grace, Abigehl, Erin and Colman Slattery. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides her husband, Lillian was preceded in death by two brothers, four sisters, three brothers-in-law, and four sisters-in-law.
