Russell (Red) Hanner, 67 of Sheridan, passed away quietly at the McClellan Veterans Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas on October 21, 2015. He was born on the family farm at Stuart, Iowa to the late Alex Hanner and Hildred (Hedges) Hanner on January 28, 1948. Red was the 6th of 10 children, five boys and 5 girls. After high school, he worked for Rock Island Railroad until he was drafted into the Army and served 14 months in Viet Nam in 1968 until 1969. Red worked welding, cutting logs and as a Cable Television Contractor, where he worked and traveled to many states. Red retired three years ago, gardening, raising dogs and growing flowers at his home in Sheridan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Alex (Abe) Hanner and James A. Hanner.

Red is survived by his wife of 43 years, Joyce and son, Russell A. Hanner, Jr., brothers, Harry Wayne Hanner of Greeley, Colorado, Thomas R. Hanner of Sheridan, sisters, Phyllis and husband, Harry Wagoner of Aiken, MN; Carol Madden of Holland, Michigan, Dorothy and husband, Dale Messenger of Maxwell, Idaho, Evelyn and husband, Terry Ripley of Green Valley, Arizona, Arlene and husband, Bruce Stanely of Redfield, Idaho.

Red will be greatly missed by family and friends. Cremation was through Ashby Funeral Home.
