Family and friends will gather at 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 4, 2015, to celebrate the life of Electa Moore Baker. Her final resting place is Clearview Cemetery. Dr. Wayne A. Lawson will officiate.
Mrs. Baker was born and reared in Ardmore, attended the Dunbar Elementary and graduated from Douglass High School and Langston University. She attended graduate school at the University of Oklahoma, the University of Colorado and the University of Michigan. Mrs. Baker taught at schools in Colbert, El Reno, Oklahoma City, Ardmore Douglass and Ardmore High. She retired in 1982 after 39 years as a teacher in English and Music.
She was a lifetime and faithful member of the First Baptist Church where she served as Choir director and musician until ill health prevented her attendance. She married Leo Baker Sr. He preceded her in death, as well as her brothers, William Moore, Edward Moore, Clyde Moore, Lee Allen Moore, Willis Moore, and Wallace Moore; sisters, Barbara Antwine, Ester, Ella, and Bella.
Her soul took flight Wednesday, October 29, 2015, from her home.
She leaves to forever cherish lifelong memories her son, Leo Jr., and his wife, Dayna Baker; two grandchildren, Daylen Baker, and Day'Na Baker, all of Ardmore; nieces and nephews, Thomas Davenport, Kay Moore, Jennifer Moore, Kenneth Antwine and Donald Ray Antwine; other generations of nieces, nephews, and numerous friends.
