ROCK HILL - Sara Roddey Gettys passed away on October 30, 2015 at Westminster Health and Rehab Center at the age of 95. Born on March 11, 1920, she was one of eight children of John Ebenezer and Maud Martin Gettys. A graduate of Rock Hill High School and Winthrop University, she became a public school teacher. She was preceded in death by her parents, and by her siblings, John E. Gettys, Jr., Elizabeth Thomas Gettys, William Alexander Gettys, Thomas Smithwick Gettys, James Wylie Gettys, Joseph Lyle Gettys, and Edwin Martin Gettys. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Mary Phillips White Gettys of Rock Hill; eight nieces and nephews; sixteen great nieces and nephews; and thirteen great-great nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at Neely’s Creek Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church Cemetery
