Actor. Born Palmer Lee, he was known for his appearances on both on television and film (particularly westerns), from the 1950s to the early 1980s. After a stint in the United States Army Air Corps during the Second World War, he got his start in show business as a radio announcer. In 1950 Palmer received his first acting part in the film "My Friend Irma Goes West" and he ended up with bit parts for the first couple of years of his acting career. He signed a contract with Universal Pictures in 1952 , but after awhile he went into freelancing , closing the decade by starring and co-starring in a number of detective, Western and sci-fi adventures such as "Highway Patrol", "Revolt At Fort Laramie", and "Zombies of Mora Tau". By the early 1960s Palmer was featured in more of the popular television series with a greater emphasis on westerns such as "Gunsmoke", "Laramie", "Bonanza", and "Big Valley". He also became a member of John Wayne's stock company by the late 1960s and early 1970s and acted in such Wayne classics as "Chisum", "True Grit", and "The Shootist". Palmer's last role was of a colonel in the television mini-series "The Blue and The Gray" in 1982.
