Sergeant Henry Prendes was killed in the line of duty. An officer with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department , he was responding to a domestic disturbance call near the corner of Durango and Russell at 1:20 p.m. The alleged assailant was Amir Crump, an aspiring rap musician better known as "Trajik." Trajik was then shot and killed by an off-duty officer responding to Sgt. Prendes' call for back up.

Henry Prendes was a Sergeant for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department in Nevada. He served 14 years for the Police Force, dying in the line of duty at age 37. Sgt. Prendes was responding to a domestic violence call. The report stated that a man was beating a woman with a stick in the front yard, also breaking windows on vehicles and a house on Feather Duster Court. When Sgt. Prendes and other Officers arrived, they located the woman, which was the suspects girlfriend. Her mother and brother were with her, watching in horror, trying to intervene.

The suspect ran inside of the home. Sgt. Prendes approached the door of the home, when the suspect opened fire with a semi-automatic rifle, striking him. Sgt. Prendes fell on the sidewalk, other Officers could not reach him, because the suspect kept firing. The suspect fired at least 50 rounds, and kept Officers pinned behind walls and cars. The suspect then raced upstairs, and fired down upon Officers. In spite of the constant gunfire, Police Officers tried to rescue their fallen comrade. A member of a Gang Unit heard the call and responded to the scene. He shot and killed the suspect with a high-powered rifle, and helped rescue the fallen Officer. The Gang Unit Officer was shot in the leg during the rescue.

Sgt.Prendes leaves behind his wife and 2 daughter's as well as alot of people who he touched there live's dramatically.he will be missed by all and were all saddened by the grief for his family.
