Lewis B. Diamond was born in New Castle, the son of David and Edith Bachman [Baughman] Diamond. He was a musician and former member of the Red Coat Band. Since 1928 he was the maintenance man at the Bleakley Block. He was a former guard for the Erie Railroad and a former employee of the Bell Telephone Company. He taught music at the Old Smith Institute. He was a member of the First Christian Church. In 1927, he married Bertha Varley. He was declared dead on arrival at the New Castle Hospital at 8AM after a cerebral hemorrhage on Friday, May 18, 1956. Survivors included his wife, Bertha and four stepchildren: Edward Varley of New Castle; Master Sgt. Albert Diamond, United States Marine Band in California; Mrs. Edna Pezone; Virginia Fundoots of New Castle and four grandchildren. Services were held at the DeCarbo Funeral Home. Interment was at Greenwood Cemetery.
