Major League Baseball Player. For five seasons (1982 to 1986), he was a left-handed pitcher with the Atlanta Braves, New York Mets and Los Angeles Dodgers. Born Carlos Antonio Diaz, he graduated from Castle High School in Kaneohe and attended Allan Hancock College in California. He was selected by the Seattle Mariners as the 15th overall pick during the first round of the 1979 Amateur Draft. He was acquired by the Braves and marked his Major League debut on June 30, 1982. A reliever his entire career, he produced a career-high 54 games-pitched with the Mets and yielded an impressive 2.05 ERA. Diaz recorded a career-high 6 wins with the Dodgers in 1985 and experienced postseason action as he pitched in 2 games during the 1985 National League Championship Series. In 179 career regular-season games, he compiled a 13-win, 6-loss record with a lifetime 3.21 ERA in 258 innings pitched. He also played professional baseball for several seasons in Puerto Rico during the NL offseason. After retiring from baseball, Diaz worked as a driver for the elderly.
