David Garcia, affectionately known as Coach David, passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2005 at the age of 49. David touched many people's lives. A coach, guitar instructor and teacher of 16 years at Central Catholic Elementary School, he shared his love and talent with the youth of our community. Also a City League and AAU coach, he taught the youth self-discipline and pride through the sports of basketball and volleyball. Prior to teaching he owned his own business, Garcia Plastering Co. He was known by his family and friends as giving and unselfish, humble and understanding, care free and full of laughter. Son, Father, Grandpa, Brother, Uncle, Coach and Teacher - David Garcia will be dearly missed. David we love you!

He is survived by his parents, Pascual and Julia Garcia of Corpus Christi, Texas; his son, Manuel (Deandra) Segura of Corpus Christi, Texas; six daughters: Michele (Robert) Galan, Jessica (Jesse) Garcia both of San Antonio, Texas, Julie (Samuel) Rinehart of Strasburg, Virginia, Laura Garcia of San Antonio, Texas, Brianna and Samantha Garcia both of Corpus Christi, Texas; his brother, Michael (Benji) Garcia and four sisters Diana (Roy) Salinas, Cynthia O'Donnell, Laura (John) Colunga and Sandra (Johnny) Mata all of Corpus Christi, Texas; seven grandchildren and 25 nieces and nephews.

Visitation and rosary was conducted on April 22 at Maxwell P. Dunne Funeral Home. A funeral mass was celebrated April 23 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial followed at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
