Enlisted on 8/20/1861 as a Private, he mustered into "L" Co. GA 3rd Infantry.
He died of disease at Camp Ben Hill, VA.

The 3rd Infantry Regiment was assembled at Augusta, Georgia, in April, 1861. Its companies were recruited in the counties of Clarke, Burke, Dawson, Dade, Madison, Baldwin, and Oconee.
