MRS. J. I. MUMFORD

Emma Delia Applebee, oldest child of John and Elizabeth Griffin Applebee, was born Nov. 9, 1879 in Gage county, Nebr., and departed this life Nov. 24, 1954 at her home in Chariton, Iowa.

On Sept. 3, 1900 she was married to W. A. Brinton of Beatrice, Nebr., and to this union five children were born: Marion, Evelyn, Floyd, Beulah and Albert. On May 28, 1913 her husband, Mr. Brinton, passed away at the age of 33.

On August 29, 1923 she was married to J. I. Mumford of Russell, Iowa. To this union one daughter, Arlene, was born.

She was converted at an early age at the Townsend school in Nebraska and kept her faith in her Saviour until her death. The testimony she gave so many time was that she always wanted to say a word for Christ who had done so much for her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her mother dying when she was only seven years old. Also one son, Floyd, two brothers, Walter and Elmer and two sisters, Edna Vinzant and Hazel Applebee and one grandchild.

Those left to mourn her departure are her husband, J. I. Mumford of Chariton, Iowa, her children: Marion Brinton of Lincoln, Nebr., Evelyn Bohnstead of Cheyenne, Wyo.; Beulah Braida of Russell, Iowa; Albert Brinton and Arlene Foutch of Charles City; three sons-in-law, two daughters-in-law; and ten grandchildren.

Also surviving are a step-mother, Ida Applebee of Beatrice, Nebr.; one sister, Mrs. Viola Stanley of Lincoln, Nebr.; six half-sisters, Erma Beasley of Oakland, Calif.; Ester Peterson of California; Mary O'Day of Lincoln, Nebr.; Ruby Nelson and Myrtle Applebee, both of Beatrice, Nebr.; Anna Jones and one half-brother, Clyde Applebee, both of Oregon; and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held at the Evangelical United Brethren church Saturday, Nov. 27, with the Rev. Clifford Carter officiating. Burial was in a Nebraska cemetery.
