Funeral services for Mrs. Mabel Thames, 78, of Oak Grove, were held at 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church of Oak Grove with the Rev. Wendall Russell and the Rev. N.W. Causey officiating.
Interment was in Providence Memorial Cemetery in Lake Providence under the direction of Kidder-Cox Funeral Home of Oak Grove.
Mrs. Thames died Saturday at Carroll Nursing Home in Oak Grove after a lengthy illness.
She is survived by her husband, Kiley Thames, of Oak Grove; seven sons, T.L. Thames, of Oak Grove, Timmie Thames and Frank Thames, both of Andrews, Texas, Howard Thames of Shreveport, Kiley Thames Jr., of Lake Providence, Jack Thames, of Tallulah, Pat Thames, of Hobbs, N.M.; three daughters,Mrs. J.W. Layton, of Lake Providence, Mrs. Buddy Jones, of Oak grove, and Mrs. Leon Fox, of Monroe; three sisters, Mrs. Nola Butler, of Oak Grove, Mrs. Olive Thornburg, of Magee, Miss., and Mrs. Georgia Jones, of Oklahoma City, Okla; three brothers, E.W. Welch of St. Francisville, Timmie Welch of Mendenhall, Miss., and Estus Welch, of Oak Grove; 32 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren.
