Enrique Chapa, 81, a lifetime resident of Rios, died Friday, July 21, 2006 in a Corpus Christi hospital after a long illness. He worked as a dairy farmer for over 68 years. He enjoyed cooking and helping all his neighboring ranchers and was well known for being a generous man.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Francisca M. Chapa, a grandson, Enrique Elodin "Tino" Chapa.
He is survived by his son, Enrique E. (Mary) Chapa of Falfurrias, Texas, two daughters, Irma D. (Ruben) Perez and Annabel Chapa both of Rios, Texas. His sister, Ricarda Mendoza of Premont, Texas.
Three grandchildren, Cindy (Ricardo) Soliz of Corpus Christi, Texas, John Henry (Melissa) Chapa of Falfurrias, Texas and Ruben (Christina) Perez of Rios, Texas.

Visitation and rosary was held July 24, 2006 at the Garza Funeral Home in San Diego, Tx. Funeral mass was celebrated on July 25, 2006 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Rios, Tx. Burial followed at the Vera-Barrera Cemetery in Rios , Texas.
