Marilyn (Detweiler) Penney, born 1928 in Uniontown, Pa. to Berwyn Scott and Mary Lyndall (Jamison) Detweiler.
She was a member of the graduating class of Uniontown High School, Class of 1946, and Indiana (PA) State Teachers' College, Class of 1950 with a BA in Music Education.
She married Kenneth Graham Penney in 1956 and divorced in 1962.
Marilyn was a retired state social worker and advocate for domestic violence victims.
She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church.
She was active in Parents Without Partners (PWP) and United Methodist Women (UMW).
Marilyn loved music (piano/voice), her grandchildren, and helping others.
She moved to Renton, Washington in 1992 to be near her daughter's family. She resided since 2002 at Wesley Homes in Des Moines, Wash., where she passed away September 15, 2015 at the age of 87.
Marilyn is survived by daughter and son-in-law Lyndall and Tom Foulds; grandsons, Craig and David Foulds; brothers Ber (Lois), Herb (Judy Damon), Nelson (Jill), and Alan (Sandy) Detweiler; former sisters-in-law, Thyra Mack Waite and Joan Bailey Spotte; and fifteen nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are entrusted to the ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME &Amp; CREMATORIES, INC., 80 Morgantown Street, Uniontown, PA 15401.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015 at 11 a.m. at ASBURY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH with Rev. Don Kephart officiating.
Interment follows at Oak Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of other memorial tokens, donations welcomed in her memory to Wesley Homes Foundation, 815 S. 216th St., Des Moines, WA 98198
