Anna was the family matriarch inspiring and teaching others through love, self-sacrifice, humbleness, and the work ethic. As a devout Catholic, her faith inspired and encouraged others to persevere in difficult times. "Dios es muy Grande" was her creed. She was an avid reader, a doll collector, and was gifted with a green thumb. After retiring from Texas Industrial Laundries, she worked as housekeeping supervisor at the Human Development Center. Her smile, laughter, and love will be missed.
Born in Corpus Christi on May 31, 1921 to the late Jesus and Macedonia Hernandez, she was the eldest of five.
Her husband, Ramon C. Salinas, grandson, Jeffrey DeHoyos, and daughter, Sadie DeHoyos, preceded her in death.
She is survived by sisters and brother, Maria Silva (Lupe), Teresa Ayala, Carmen Chavarria (the late Alonzo), all of Corpus Christi, and Jesus Hernandez (Bonnie) of Waynesville, Missouri. Surviving children are Julia S. (Samuel) Esquivel, Maria G. (Ernesto) Garcia, Teresa (Hidalgo) Salas, Raymond Salinas, and son-in-law, Jesus DeHoyos Sr., all from Corpus Christi. Her legacy lives on through 22 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
