Casimiro V. Salinas went to meet our Lord on July 30, 2006 at approximately 9:05 a.m. He was surrounded by loving family at a Mission Medical Center.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Rhonda A. Salinas and their two daughters, Cassandra I. Salinas and Carissa A. Salinas, his mother Paula V. Salinas and brother Joe (Laura) Salinas Jr. and his sisters-in-law, Gloria E. Alvarez, Maggie (Martin) Barreiro, Linda ( Richard) E. Gonzalez, Noemi (Benito) Alvarez, Olga (Mario) Falcon, and Maricela (Omar) Castillo.

He was preceded in death by his father Jose S. Salinas and sister Avilda S. Ramirez.

Casimiro was born on September 10, 1957. He graduated from Benavides High School in 1976. Casimiro worked with Chevron Texaco for 26 years. His part-time jobs included mowing lawns, working at his ranch, and refereeing.

Casimiro was president and long time board member of the TASO Basketball Rio Grande Valley Chapter. Over the years, Casimiro has been active in the coordination of activities for the RGV Basketball All-Star Showcase. Casi ranks as one of the top officials throughout the state, having officiated in 5 UIL regional tournaments, Mario Reyna, long standing Valley sports official commented, "As a basketball official, Casi was outstanding because he hustled and was very consistent. As an individual, Casi lived by his motto: "I Love You Man!" Many basketball officials in the Valley have been positively influenced by Casi.

Mr. Salinas was a unique individual that was always willing to give the shirt off his back to those in need."
He was an exceptional husband, father, son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend. He was generous, loving, and a devout Catholic whose strong faith helped him throughout his illness. He will be missed by his family and friends. "I Love You Man" was his favorite way of saying goodbye to all the lives he touched.

Visitation was held on July 31 at Funeraria Christo Rey, 1813 N. Conway, under the direction of Ric Brown Family Funeral Home. A funeral mass was held August 1 at St. Paul's Catholic Church.

Burial followed at the family ranch in Premont.
