Lalanche Davis Evans, 49,
of Marfa. died Sunday.
Funeral was-said Tuesday
afternoon at Presbyterian
Church in Marfa with the Rev.
Sam Magbee officiating. Burial
was in Marfa Cemetery, under the direction
of Memorial Funeral Home.

She was born March 28,1939 in Burnet, Texas.
She was the only daughter of ranchers
Othal and LaBlanche "Trixie"
Davis. She graduated from
Burnet High School and
attended Texas Tech University.
On Sept. 14, 1957. she
married Clay Evans and
moved to Marfa where she and
her husband were in the ranching
and cattle business.

She was an active civic
leader in the Marfa community
and surrounding area. Among
her many activities, she was a
member of the Presbyterian
Church, West of the Pecos CattleWomen's
Association (CowBelles), secretary to the
Jones-Finley-Espy Camp at
Bloys Encampment and Historical
Commission of Bloys.

Among her many interests, she
loved the sports of rodeo and
tennis. She was preceded in
death by her son, less Clay
Evans Jr., and her father, Othal
Davis.

Survivors include her husband.

-Ranch; one son, Sidney Worth
Evans of the Ryan Ranch near
Marfa; one daughter and sonin-law,
Kimberly Evans Harris
and Bobby Harris of
Gillette, Wyo.; one granddaughter,
Kendal Knuell Harris;
and her mother, "Trixie"
Davis of Burnet.
Pallbearers were Sid
Cowan, Lane Foltyn, Jerry
Hope, Hayes Mitchell Jr.,
Alvin Nored, Robert Pruett,
Tooter Shanklin and Rick
Tate.

The family has requested
that memorials be made to the
Jess Evans Memorial Scholarship
Fund at Sul Ross State
University or to a favorite
charity.
