Inscription
Rev. Asa Hillyer, D. D., was graduated at Yale College, ordained as a minister of the gospel 1799, installed pastor of the Presbyterian church in Orange 1801, where he continued to labor until his decease, Aug. 28, 1840, in his 77th year. - Erected by the Second Presbyterian Congregation of Orange, as a tribute of affection and esteem, for the deceased.
Gravesite Details
Reportedly one of earliest interments in Rosedale, originally buried on August 28, 1840 in "The Old Burying Ground" and reinterred to Rosedale on January 12, 1841.
