Natale “Uncle Sonny” Moschini, 82, of Plainville, passed away surrounded by his beloved family on Saturday, November 7, 2015.

He was the husband of Meda (Murphy) Moschini, with whom he shared 55 years of marriage.

Born in Bronx, New York on September 1, 1933, Sonny moved to Plainville in his younger years, next door to his future wife, Meda. Together, they settled in her hometown where they raised their three sons, and became proud grandparents.

Nat proudly served his country for 2 years in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany, and was honorably discharged in 1957.

He was a talented mason by trade, retiring from Aiudi Concrete in 1995 after 25 years of hard work and dedication.

A life spent selflessly helping others he was first and foremost a family man, with his second love being a firefighter as a member of the Plainville Fire Department for over 50 years and took great pride in watching two more generations follow in his footsteps.

He will be greatly missed by the many the lives he touched, especially those who were lucky to get sprayed by his custom firefighter hood ornament, leaving a legacy of love, hard work, his robust laughter, and many cherished memories.

In addition to his wife, Meda, he leaves his sons, Richard Moschini and Mickie Steele; Thomas Moschini and Christine Yount; his grandchildren, Robert, Paige, Katelynn, Thomas Jr., Jennifer, and Abigail, Richard D; and his three great-grandchildren who always made him smile, Noah, Mackenzie, and Aubrey. He also leaves a sister, a brother, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Robert, his brother, and two sisters.

Funeral services in celebration of Sonny’s life will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Bailey Funeral Home, 48 Broad St, Plainville.

Committal services with Military Honors will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.

Family and friends may gather on Tuesday evening, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

He may be remembered with contributions to the Plainville Fire Company, 77 W. Main St, Plainville or the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
