FALL FATAL TO AGED WOMAN
Mrs. Elizabeth Hull Reed Died of Injuries Sustained Sunday Morning.
Elizabeth Hull Reed, aged 74 years, passed away Monday evening at the home of her son, D.D. Reed, 680 East Third Street, after a short illness. Mrs. Reed fell Sunday morning, breaking her hip. Injuries which resulted from the accident caused her death. Her own home is on Chambers Street, but after she fell and was hurt she was taken to her son's home, where everything possible was done by loved ones to relieve her suffering. Her children were with her when the end came.
Elizabeth Hull was born in Bedford County, Pennsylvania, June 24, 1842. She was the daughter of Jacob and Sarah Hull and was the youngest of twelve children. The deceased was the last of her immediate family.
She moved to Illinois with her parents in 1857 and settled with them near Douglas, IL, where she lived until 1861. Then she came to Galesburg. Her marriage to Isom Reed took place July 14, 1868, in Elba Township. She was the mother of three children, Margaret Reed of Monmouth, D.D. of Galesburg and a son, H.H. Reed, who was killed ten years ago. Her husband died July 10, 1912.
She was a mother whom her children will tenderly remember and a friend whom many people knew and honored.
Surviving are the two children and a number of nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the home of her son, D.D. Reed, 680 East Third Street. Rev. L.F. Dimmitt will be in charge. Burial will take place in Linwood Cemetery.
