Jacob married Sarah Miller in Pennsylvania around 1820. His children, all born in Pennsylvania, included Abraham H., Zacharias, Amy, Rebecca, Richmond, Isaac, and Elizabeth.
The 1850 census was in Thompson, Fulton County, Pennsylvania. Jacob and Sarah were 52, Zacharias was 20, Amy 19, Rebecca 17, Richmond 14, Isaac 11, and Elizabeth was 8. His son Abraham had married and was settled in his own home.
The family moved to Salem Township, Knox County, Illinois, in the 1850's. The 1860 census shows Jacob and Sarah, Isaac at 20, Elizabeth 17, and a brother of Jacob, Rhoana E. Hull, 71.
Next door was their son Abraham's home. It lists Abraham and wife Julia, both 39, Charlotte, 17, and William, 15, all born in Pennsylvania, then James, 10, Jacob, 8, Zachariah, 6, Luther, 4, and Leonitus B, 1. The latter children were born in Illinois.
The 1870 census shows Jacob and Sarah, and daughter Elizabeth. Elizabeth was married in 1874 to Isom Reed. The 1880 census shows Jacob at 81, widowed, and staying with Isom and Elizabeth, and their children.

We cannot locate proof of burial for Jacob, but his wife has a headstone in Summitt-Douglas Cemetery; we assume he is buried beside his wife.
