George J. Enz, 75, Dies at His Home in Denmark Sunday

DENMARK, Wis. – George J. Enz, 75, a former mail carrier in this area for 33 years, died at his home in the village Sunday evening. He had been in ill health for the last two years.

Born Sept. 22, 1875 in the town of Glenmore, he came to live in Denmark in 1904. On July 11, 1906 he was married to the former Anna Schultz, who survives him. He retired from his work of carrying mail on Sept. 25, 1940.

Survivors besides his wife are two sons, Alvin, Denmark, and Capt. Mark, at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.; three daughters, Mrs. Fred Bishop, Seymour, Mrs. Otto DiDio, Milwaukee, and Mrs. Earl Cherney, Manitowoc; and five grandchildren. A brother, Louis, Waupun, and two sisters, Mrs. Emma Schelter, Chicago, and Mrs. Marvin Thiem, Denmark, also survive.

Funeral Wednesday

The body is at the Knutson Funeral home here where it may be viewed from Tuesday afternoon until Wednesday morning when it will be taken to the Zion Evangelical United Brethren church. Funeral services will be held there at 1:30 Wednesday afternoon. The Rev. B. A. Zimdars will conduct the rites and burial will be in East Cooperstown cemetery, where the Des Peres lodge, F. and A.M., will conduct Masonic rites.

Mr. Enz was a member of the Des Peres lodge, No. 85, F. and A.M., at De Pere, and the Warren Council and Warren Chapter at Green Bay.

George J. Enz, 75, resident since 1905 of Denmark, Brown county, died Sunday night at his home. He had been in failing health two years.

Mr. Enz was born in 1875 in the town of Glenmore, Brown county. He was a mail carrier 33 years in the Denmark vicinity until his retirement in 1940. He married the former Miss Anna Schultz in 1906.

He was a member of the DePere lodge No. 85, F. and A.M. Warren council No 13, R. and S. M. and Warren chapter No. 8, R. A. M.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Zion Evangelical United Brethren church, Denmark, Rev. B. A. Zimbar officiating. Services at East Cooperstown cemetery, Cooperstown, will be conducted by the DePere Masonic lodge.

Survivors are his wife; two sons, Alvin of Denmark, and Capt. Mark with the army at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo.; three daughters, Mrs. Fred Bishop of Seymour, Wis., Mrs. Otto Didio, of Milwaukee, and Mrs. Earl Cherney of Manitowoc; brother Louis of Waupun, Wis. Two sisters, Mrs. Emma Scholta of Chicago, and Mrs. Margaret Thiem of Denmark; five grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Knutson funeral home, Denmark from Tuesday afternoon until Wednesday forenoon when the casket will be moved to the church to lie in state until the time of services.
