Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Edward C. and Elizabeth Neville Friedrich and sister of the late Frank L. Reed and E. Carl Friedrich.
Mrs. Brackin was a resident at Wood River Village for the last two years and formerly lived in Holland from 1961 until 2013.
She graduated from Linden Hall School in Lititz, Pa., Class of 1939, and then attended the University of Pennsylvania where she earned an associate degree in dental hygiene. After her children were raised, she furthered her education by receiving her bachelor's degree in art history from Thomas Edison University in New Jersey at the age of 73.
She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution, Bucks County Chapter as well as a member of the Walking Purchase Chapter of Questers. She enjoyed collecting teddy bears and paperweights. She will be deeply missed as a mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Barbara is survived by her two daughters, Patricia G. Traister and her husband, Timothy of Upper Black Eddy, Pa., and Denise C. Gealer of Chalfont, Pa.; her son, Stephen R. Brackin and his wife, Christine of Langhorne, Pa. and her stepson, Richard Brackin Jr. of Andalusia, Pa. She also is survived by her four grandchildren, Elizabeth Steckart (James), Timothy D. Traister, Kathleen Hill (Matthew), Michael Oakley (Sarah); and four great grandchildren, Emma, George, Ryan and Teddy.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet her family Wednesday, Dec. 23, from 11:30 a.m. until her Requiem Liturgy at noon, at St. Luke Episcopal Church, 100 E. Washington Ave., Newtown, PA 18940. Interment will take place at George Washington Memorial Park, Plymouth Meeting.
