BOVINA - Alethea Wilson, 82, died Thursday, Feb. 27, 2003, in Clovis, NM.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Quita Jones, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Bovina Cemetery by Blackwell Funeral Home.
Mrs. Wilson was born June 9, 1920, in Bovina, and was a lifetime resident of Parmer County. She married Robert Wilson on Dec. 3, 1944, in Columbia, S.C. She graduated from Bovina High School, attended Texas Woman's University and graduated from West Texas Normal College. She taught school in Vega and Panhandle before moving back to Bovina where she and her husband farmed west of Bovina for 58 years.
She was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Bovina and taught Sunday school and bible school for many years. She was active in United Methodist Women. She was active in Bovina Chamber of Commerce, and in 1997 she received the Heritage Award from Bovina Chamber of Commerce. She was an avid bridge player.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Leora Tidenberg Hastings; and a sister, Ann Hastings.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Kregg Wilson of Bovina; three daughters, Ann Kingsley Wilson of Albuquerque, N.M., and Candy Dyer and April Gober, both of Farwell; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to First United Methodist Church of Bovina.
