Barbara (May) Reeve, 76, of Plainville, widow of James J. Reeve, passed away Thursday (June 10, 2010) at her home. A New Britain native, she was a former Berlin and Southington resident, moving to Plainville in 1986. A graduate of Berlin High School, she worked at Wesson Heating and Air Conditioning in Southington for 15 years and at Ideal Forge in Southington for 10 years, retiring in 1975. Barbara was a member of St. Matthew's Church in Forestville and the Child of the Blessed Sacrament Group at the church. She was a former choir member at Our Lady of Mercy Church in Plainville and was a member of the Friends of the Plainville Library; the Southington Women's Club; the Nutmeg Garden Club in Southington; a several literary and book clubs.
Surviving is a son, James W. Reeve and his wife Cheryl of Grand Rapids, Michigan; a daughter, Beverly Rackliffe and her husband Dr. Robert Rackliffe of Farmington; a sister, Cynthia May and her husband Robert Lovell of West Chesterfield, MA; four grandchildren, Kristy, James, Christopher and Ashley; several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Margaret Steffany.
Funeral services are Tuesday 10:30 AM at Carlson Funeral Home, 45 Franklin Square New Britain followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 11:30 AM at St. Matthew's Church 120 Church Avenue, Forestville.
