He was a long time resident of San Salvador, El Salvador. However, he did return to France and fought in World War I (WWI), in which he was wounded several times. He married Marthe Olga Postel, the daughter of Albert Postel and Melanie (Becle) Postel in 1924. Before he made his second and final move to El Salvador, he lived in Boulogne-Billancourt, France. After 1930, he temporarily moved to the Republic of Panama (family recount) and then moved his family to El Salvador and remained there until his death on May 15, 1962.

Obituary: Emilio Détruit has died. Who was always a good friend Emilio Détruit has died. Yesterday his remains were buried in the cemetery of this city. Emilio Détruit was a hero decorated several time for his actions as a patriot in the first World War (WWI). French was always Emilio and when France called on its citizens, is like other French patriots like Don Luis Margerita enlisted and fought for her freedom; both returned to this country, which became his second home and as they knew they loved it. Détruit, the athlete will not let ?????? not a single moment is gone and has left a huge void in our environment, no doubt by those who called in earliest times were his companions: Manuel Navas, Huesito, Marroquin, Chus Don Evans, Espinocita, and others who now have to be already talking with him and receiving the news of which we were waiting our turn to go to them. Emillio Détruit, which always complied fully with its duty to the ex-Salvadoran, as well as in Europe with their blood watered the fields of battle, where he was wounded several times, was also on the squad of football that defended the colors of the Salvador, together with the names and who are already gone and others who are now lamenting his departure: Mr. Gray, Barrachina, Chele Casals, Julio Angel, Toño Perdomo, Antonio Andeade, Gualsinse Alvarado, Luis Argumedo, Carlos Cañas. Toño Dardano and all those in the excellent conviveron patriot and magnificent athlete in those days when futball ????? ??????? for the Franco-Salvadoran, the Marathon, the Hercules, the Nekepio and others. Détruit days when Emile was outstanding and beloved figure, we long for the dear days, days we long for the days we want the sport we would like to return for good of sport in El Salvador. And so since we regret your going there in the unknown regions beyond others like Dr. Cesar Lopez, Dr. Pedro Menendez, and other Colonel Monterrosa yours tennis peers that are teeming of joy for you and you've got one more to reach where they are waiting anxiously to know what's going on where they were our beloved companions. Rest in peace, friend, and rest assured that all of us we knew the nobility of your soul and the courage, patriotism and people skills that always demonstrate, we will present just as gently as if you were the representatives of General De Gaulle during the Second World War (WWII). You were not a large Salvadoran never stopped being a legitimate French! His wife and children receive through me the deep and sincere condolences to all those who were his friends on earth.
