Preacher listed on John T. Brown's 1904 portraiture of "Some Prominent Editors, Educators, and Preachers of Churches of Christ.

Peter Ainslie was a very famous Disciples Preacher. He was born on 3 June 1867 in Dunnsville, Virginia. He died in Baltimore, Maryland on 23 February 1934. Ainslie studied under McGarvey at College of the Bible. Famously, Daniel Sommer paid the Ainslies a visit in the early 1930s and Sommer was invited to speak at Ainslie's Christian Temple congregation ... an invitation Sommer accepted. --Terry Gardner

Dr. Peter Ainslie said to me when he stated that he wished me to preach for him when I was last in Baltimore, “We’ll keep the organ quiet on the occasion.” I remarked, “I am accustomed to say that I can endure the organ as long as those who use it can endure my preaching.” Yet in his introductory remarks on that occasion he stated to the audience that the instrument should not be used, and added that the Greek church had not adopted it in their worship. -- Daniel Sommer to F. D. Kershner on 2 June 1931.

January 29, 1925, he married Mary Elizabeth Weisel, a Christian educator, and dean of a Presbyterian girls' seminary in Baltimore.
