Son of John Leathers and Sarah Elizabeth White.

Daughter of John Stansifer (1744-1823) and Jemima Clore (1751-1819). She was born Oct. 18. 1775, in Culpeper Co., VA.

The will of Joshua Leathers was written 28 July 1819. John Arnold and Bartlett Graves appointed executors. Administrators John Leathers and Benjn W. Leathers of Thomas P. Leathers deceased to sell lot in Cincinnati and pay executors Joshua's part of the money. Executors of his father's estate, also John Leathers, Joseph White and Bartlett Graves to sell 100 acres of land "that did belong to Sarah A. Riddle, formally Sary A. Leathers, and pay my part of the money unto my Executors" and "further if the re should be any part of the land saved in Boone & Gallatin Countys that my father claimed I want the Executors to sell and pay my part to my Executors". Executors to rent his brick house in Covington and to lease the rest of his lots in Covington. Four lots in Covington to be divided among Joshua's children and given to them as they came of age. "I want my Executors to call on John Leathers & Benjamin W. Leathers administrators of Thomas P. Leathers, deceased, for my part of t he money and also on the Executors of my fathers estate for my proportion coming to me there, and the money that is coming from Robert Perry and the money coming from Edward Meeks". The money to be put out on interest and paid to each child as they came of age, "Peremely Leathers, when s he comes of age, Elizabeth Leathers, Joshua Leathers Junr, Pall Leathers, Thomas Leathers & Levine Leathers". Executors to furnish the children with clothes as they "may think best" and to deduct the amount out of that child's part and to "do the best they can with the beds and bedding to the children's advantage". Witnesses were James Robinson and Daniel Maxwell. Proved November Court 1819, recorded 7 December 1819.

According to Myrna Myres, there is no record of the orphaned children of Frankey and Joshua Leathers until they reach adulthood. Family lore says they resided with their uncles John and Benjamin Leathers.
