UNION - Arvell McSwain, 82, of 3477 Jonesville-Lockhart Hwy. died March 13, 2001, at Wallace Thomson Hospital after a brief illness. A native of Lockhart, he was the husband of Helen Allison McSwain and the son of the late Lee McSwain Sr. and Maude Vanderford McSwain. He was retired from Milliken & Co.'s Cedar Hill Plant and attended Lockhart Freewill Baptist Church. Surviving in addition to his wife are a brother, Roy McSwain of Union; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel, conducted by the Revs. Calvin Smith and Bill Vanderford. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. tonight at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Union County Cancer Society, c/o Ola Jean Kelly, 117 Fant Lane, Union, S.C. 29379. The family is at the home.
