James Bernard Kennedy Jr. was the son of James Bernard & Frieda Mae (Landgraf) Kennedy. Jim was born in the family home on Rohns on the East side of Detroit.

Jim had 4 siblings, they were:

1. Ruth Genevieve Kennedy, 1909-2005, married Raymond Hanneman, 3 children.
2. John Edward Kennedy, 1911-1996, married Mildred Wayrynen, 3 children.
3, Bernice Marion Kennedy, 1913-1932, never married.
4. Helen Jane Kennedy, 1917 - , married Earl House, 1 son.

Sadly, Jim's mother died during the 1918 Flu epidemic. This presented the family with many challenges. The family greatly missed Frieda.

As a young man on 5 Apr 1941, Jim married Helen Rainnie Choate in Michigan. The couple did not have children.

In the later years of his father's life, James Sr. lived with Jim & Helen until he died in 1948.

Jim and his brother John were close. They both worked for the D & C ship line which shipped new cars on the Great Lakes. For many years they lived close to one another South of Rochester. In the early 50s the brothers established a nursery business on 2810 Rochester road. Jim and John worked together enjoying one another's company, the plants and selling to the public. In 1962 they sold the business and Jim retired.

When they retired Jim and Helen moved to the west coast of Florida. Jim kept busy there collecting stamps. For years he sold stamps through ads in Linns Stamp news, a weekly stamp newspaper.

Jul 2010 note: In Aug 1987 after Jim's death Helen married Aaron Floyd, he died in 1995. Helen remained in Clearwater, FL for many years before moving back to her childhood area of Maine where she died in 2013. There is no information on her Maine burial or the disposition of her ashes. Space 8 was for Helen.
