Obituary from Howard Lake Herald - Lois Janice Siedschlag, age 77, of Howard Lake, passed away Monday, Jan. 18, 2016, at St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted.

She was born March 8, 1938, in Hammer, SD, the daughter of Edwin and Alice (DeBoer) Henke.

Lois was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church, Claire City, SD.

She lived on a farm and attended country school in Hammer, SD.

Lois was united in marriage to Arden Siedschlag Oct. 24, 1953, at Webster, SD. This union was blessed with the birth of four children; Linda, Jeffery, Scott, and Kimberly.

Lois and Arden made their home and living by working on a farm at that time. Later, they moved to Litchfield, MN.

Lois was a homemaker and also worked as a waitress in a bakery and as a Red Cross volunteer.

The family moved to Howard Lake in 1962. Lois worked doing promotional demonstrations at Custer’s Super Valu, and worked with Arden in the meat department there also. She was also employed at Tonka Toys.

Lois enjoyed music, singing, dancing, playing cards and games with family, and visiting with people. She also enjoyed boating, camping, mini golf with grandsons, and watching a grandson race cars.

Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Arden; son Scott; mother Alice and father Edwin; brothers Arlo and Dale; and sisters Maryls and Valdean.

She is survived by two daughters, Linda Clark of Delano, and Kimberly (Allen) Monger of Bemidji; one son, Jeffery (Roxann) Siedschlag of Hutchinson; five grandsons; James (Mary) Clark, Jeremiah Monger, Zachariah Monger, Eric Siedschlag, and Ryan Siedschlag; brother Donald Henke; sister Darlene Piewoski; nieces, a nephew; and a host of friends.

Lois’ funeral service took place Saturday, Jan. 23 at 1 p.m. at Saint James Lutheran Church in Howard Lake.

Visitation was Friday, Jan. 22 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home in Howard Lake, with 7 p.m. prayer; and continued Saturday at the church, one hour prior to the services.
