During the Civil War he served as a private in Companies E and I of the 74th Regiment Enrolled Missouri Militia. He volunteered 15 Aug 1862 in Marshfield, MO and was discharged 10 Nov 1862. His widow, Sarah Jane Hunt filed for a pension based on that service on 3 Nov 1919.
