Bob was born and raised in the Cedar Grove / Glasgow area, later settling in Boone County during the 1980s. He has been a resident of Julian,WV since 1989.
Bob lettered in football at East Bank High School. During his high school years, he was a projectionist at Palmer's Movie Theater in Cedar Grove, where his wife, Patsy Cobb Linkous was a teller in the ticket booth.. He worked for the Cabot Gas Company during the summer months, and was a member of the crew installing gas pipes at the Yeager Airport. He worked most of his adult life as an electrician in the coal mines (38 years) in and around the Kanawha and Boone County areas. He began his mining career working for the Warner Collieries and North American Coal Companies in Mammoth, In Boone County he worked for Omar Mining, and finished his career with the Massey Coal Company, where he retired in 1985. Bob was a member of the UMWA.
Bob was a faithful Christian and attended the Olive Baptist Church of Julian. He was an avid gardener who enjoyed putting in his large garden every Spring.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Nellie Linkous;
brothers-Coach Charles B. Linkous (Clarice), and Floyd Patrick Linkous; Sisters-Jean Brown (Robert) and Venita Hancock (Rev. John
Hancock).; Son-in-law Carmen Claypool. He is also preceded in death by his first wife, Patsy Cobb Griffin, and his second wife Phyllis Kincaid Graham.
