Funeral services and a celebration of his life will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home with burial in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with Military Honors. The Rev. Charles Cravey, the Rev. Charles Carter, the Rev. Cile Mitchell and the Rev. Frank Chapman will officiate. Members of Gideon's International are asked to sit as a group during the service. The family will meet friends from 1:30 p.m. to service time on Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Jones, son of the late Claude Eugene Jones and Ivy Elsie Grisbrook Jones, was a lifelong resident of Macon. He served with the U. S. Army Air Corps with the 449th Bombardment Group during World War II in Italy. Mr. Jones was a Charter Member of Bloomfield United Methodist Church where he taught the Men's Bible Class and served on the Board of Trustees and Board of Stewards. He was the longest serving Gideon in the Middle Georgia area since 1955.
He was a member of V.F.W. Post 658, Georgia Department of Defense, Woodmen of the World and Macon-West Exchange Club. He was a recipient of the Exchange Club Pioneer Award and Book of Golden Deeds for outstanding service to God, Country and Community. He was an Honorary Deputy Sheriff and former Board Member of Macon Rescue Mission. Mr. Jones was retired from Robins Air Force and served as a Bailiff in Bibb County Courts. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved family, his wife of sixty-eight years, Ethel W. Jones; his children, Lindy Peacock, Nancy (George) Launius, Jeannie Mixson and Rambo (Donna) Jones; eight grandchildren, Jennifer (Randall) Deaton, Jamie (Robyn) Peacock, Lindsay (Kenny) Launius-Mobley, Michael (Lauren) Launius, Tori Peacock, Tara (Jonathan) Jones, John Launius, Kristen (Tommy) Cheek; eleven great grandchildren; brother, Buck (Faith) Jones, nieces, nephews and other extended family.
