Obituary | "Funeral services for Tommie Hicks, 65, of Karnack, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Shiloh Baptist Church in Mooringsport, Louisiana, with Rev. Enos Wagner officiating. Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery under the direction of Hayward Funeral Home. Mr. Hicks died following a lengthy illness on Sunday in Marshall Memorial Hospital. The son of Walter Hicks and Mrs. Lula Jackson Hicks, he was born February 29, 1908, in Karnack, Texas. He attended Harrison County public schools. He was married to Miss Louvenia Fisher on April 20, 1930 in Karnack. A lifelong resident of Harrison County, he was a laborer and a farmer. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church and Bright Star Masonic Lodge No. 376. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Lovenia Hicks, of Karnack; sevens sons: Albert Hicks, Melvin Hicks, James Hicks, Johnnie Hicks, all of Dallas, Elbert Hicks, Martin Hicks, Tommie Hicks Jr., all of Karnack; two daughters, Mrs. Mary White, of Karnack and Mrs. Georgia May Doty (Dotie), of Dallas; one sister, Mrs. Mattie Lee Thompson, of Karnack; 29 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one uncle; and nieces, nephews and other relatives."
