San Diego, Texas - Esther C. Paiz, 86 years old passed away February 28, 2012 at her residence after a short illness. She was a homemaker and a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She was preceded in death by her parents, Guadalupe and Juanita N. Cantu, one grandson, Peter Pena, two brothers, Emilio and Elias Cantu and two sisters, Elisa Martinez and Eva Rodriguez. She is survived by her husband, Guillermo " Willie " Paiz of San Diego, Texas, two sons, Victor ( Norma ) Paiz of Corpus Christi, Texas and Oscar ( Gabie ) Paiz of Alice, Texas. four daughters, Rosa ( Byrl ) Whatley of Hurst, Texas, Belinda Paiz of San Diego, Texas, Becky ( Pete ) Pena of Alice, Texas and Cindy ( Freddy ) Cadena of San Diego, Texas, three sisters, Ella Avalos of Pigeon, Michigan, Elena ( Fidel ) Flores of Hebbronville, Texas, and Aurora ( Jesse ) Contreras of Beeville, Texas, thirteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, March 1, 2012 at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home of San Diego with a Rosary at 7 p.m. that evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, March 2, 2012 at St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church and burial will follow at the San Diego Cemetery in San Diego. Mauro P.
