Very and indeed was the death of Miss Effie M. Kinney at the home of her parents, near White Cottage, Pa., at the early gray dawn of June 2, 1903, aged 20 years, nine months and 15 days. "Leaves have their time to fall and flowers to wither at the north wind's breath and stars to set, but death claims all seasons for his own." Deceased was the youngest daughter of William and Rebecca Kinney. For several months the subject of this sketch had been confined to her room suffering with tuberculosis which caused her untimely death. The patience and fortitude which she exhibited through all her illness was marked, and she surrendered with a christian meekness which left a lasting impression on those around her attending every want and comfort. Her testimony given of a strong faith in Christ as her personal Redeemer and as the source of eternal life beyond the grave is a source of comfort to the bereaved family in this their hour of sorrow. Her death was in every respect that of a christian woman, and a calm and peaceful resignation to the Father of all. She always possessed a warm responsive heart which made her many warm friends wherever she was known. The funeral services were conducted in an impressive manner by Rev. Murray, assisted by Rev. McKain at the late residence of the deceased on Wednesday afternoon, June 3rd, after which the beautiful casket containing the earthly tabernacle of this beloved young woman was borne to the family burying ground and placed in the tomb to await the resurrection morn. The parents, four brothers, two sisters and a host of friends survive to mourn the loss.
