Mr. Barnes was about 55 or 60 years old and was a veteran of the Civil War, being a member of the Cheatham Bivouac, U. C. V. He entered the Confederate service when but 17 years old. His home was at Lillian Avenue and Eighteenth street, Eastland. He has been a lifelong resident of Nashville and had many relatives here. Besides his family, his father, T. B. Barnes, the well known auctioneer, now 84 years old; J. Warren Barnes, his brother, and Mrs. T. B. Scoggins, his sister survive him. He has been Grand Recorder of the Ancient Order of United Workmen for about three years.
