Missing in Action after the sinking of Liberty Ship SS Peter Silvester.

On 6 February 1945, the SS Peter Silvester was torpedoed by German U-boat U-862 in the Indian Ocean, about 750 miles west of Perth, Western Australia. At the time of its sinking, the ship was carrying 2,700 tons of US Army supplies, in addition to 317 mules bound for Burma.
33 men aboard the ship were killed or missing (including Allen) and 142 were eventually rescued, some, weeks after the initial sinking.

The son of Iven & Susie Pearl Ewing Allen, father of William Iven Allen and Larry Joseph Allen. Brother to William Dennis Allen, Eva Christine Allen, Estes L Allen, Mary Winfield Allen, James Eugene Allen, Reba Lois Allen, Joseph Paul Allen, Hubert Jones "Wimpy" Allen, and Eleanor S Allen.
