Nelson Bowen, 81, of Bethel passed away February 22, 2016 in Idabel, OK. He was born October 10, 1934 in Bethel, OK the son of Leonard and Maudie (Smith) Bowen.

Nelson was affiliated with the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. He a rancher and worked in logging and in maintenance for Beavers Bend State Park. He had a great personality, was a good samaritan and never refused to help anyone in need. Nelson was witty and jovial and a good marksman and hunter. He loved his family.

Nelson leaves to cherish his memory, sisters, Fern DuMilieu of Lake View, OR and Joyce Belk and husband, James of Lincoln, CA; six nieces, Beverly Jean Nichols, Ramona Myers, Deb McKinney, Jackie Walters, Pamela McKinney and Janet Jabusch; three nephews, Bob, Dave and Rick DuMilieu; a host of great-nieces and great-nephews and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Maudie Bowen; brother, Leon Bowen; sister, Wanda Bowen McKinney, brother-in-law, R.V. McKinney and brother-in-law, Leo DuMilieu.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, Bethel, OK with Bro. David Hardin officiating. Interment will follow at Bethel Cemetery, Bethel, OK.
