Joel, the eighth of nine children of Ephraim Adams Sr. and Betty Pierce was born on 21 January 1793 at Stoddard, New Hampshire.[1] Joel married Amy Burgess (1799-1889), the daughter of John and Hannah (Moore) Burgess on 15 December 1818 at Belfast, Waldo, Maine. They had four children born at Maine:
1. Betsey Adams (b. 1819; d. 1844) m.
2. Lydia Adams (b. 1822; d. 1840) m.
3. Hannah Adams (b. 1826; d. 1872) m. 27 Nov 1852 at Belfast, ME, William P. Bassick Jr. (1822-1899)
4. William B. Adams (b. 1829; d. 1892) m. 2 Jan 1858 at Belfast, ME, Margaret H. Bassick (1828-1891)
Amy (Burgess) Adams died on 23 February 1889 at Maine.[2]
Joel Adams died on 1 April 1855 in his 62nd year at Waldo.[3]He is buried in Hadley Cemetery at Waldo, Waldo, Maine.[4]
