Services held for Preston Combs
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 in the Presbyterian church for Preston Combs, who was born December 20, 1870, in Hazard, Kentucky and died at his home in Davenport, Oklahoma, May 29, 1945.
United in marriage to Ella Brown, January 14, 1893, who preceded him in death, October 17, 1914. To this union were born seven children, three sons and four daughters. Two of the daughters died sometime ago.
Preston Combs brought his family here from Arkansas in 1907 and reared them in this community.
Left to mourn his death are Mr and Mrs George Combs of Salinas, California; Mr and Mrs Sam Taylor of Vallejo, California; Henry Combs of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Twenty-five grand-children and ten great grand-children and a host of relatives and friends.
Rev John Howard of the Oak Grove community conducted the service assisted by Roy Daugherty. Music was by Mrs Lavina Bowker and Mrs Elizabeth McCue. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery.
