Funeral rites for Willie COMBS, 68, retired Ochiltree County road employee, were held Monday, September 20, in the Perryton Church of the Nazarene.
Mr. COMBS, who had resided in Perryton for 21 years, died at 4:00 a.m., Saturday in the Veterans Administration Hospital, Amarillo, where he had been a patient for four days.
Born June 27, 1897, in Arkansas, he was a World War I veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Marley COMBS, 610 South Drake; two sons, Billy COMBS of Perryton and Lowell COMBS of Oklahoma City; three daughters, Mrs. Raymond (Edith) JEWELL of Amarillo, Mrs. Arthur (Wanda) ELLIS of Borger, Mrs. Bill (Wilma) BECK of Elk City; one brother, Henry COMBS of Davenport, Oklahoma; a sister, Mrs. Sam TAYLOR of Oregon; 18 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Services were conducted by the Nazarene pastor, Rev. V. B. Curless, with Ochiltree Cemetery interment directed by Boxwell Brothers.
Serving as pallbearers were Howard SLAUGHTER, Lloyd McGARRAUGH, Roy THROCKMORTON, Hardy HULSEY, Buss MAXWELL and Virgil JEWELL.
