Susan "Susie" (Abrams) Simmons was born April 14, 1871 in Calumet, Houghton County, Michigan.
She was one of 7 children of Michael and Lydia (Chegwin) Abrams, who immigrated to Michigan from Cornwall, England.
They were miners.
She married James Kinslow Simmons (1864-1936) also a miner born in Calumet.
They had 6 children:
George Clyde,
Ethel Annie,
Mabel,
Nellie Rose,
James Lawrence and
Mary Pearl.
They lived in Arizona in about 1910, and then moved to Sanger where Susie and James became grape farmers.
Susie died at Sanger on Mar 6, 1946 at the Simmons Ranch.
