Absalom Evans married 1st to Elizabeth Taylor on March 21, 1846 in Morgan County, IL.
They would have 12 children together (all born in Scott County, IL) - only 8 living to adulthood. Elizabeth was no longer around at the time of Absalom's 2nd Marriage on Oct 3, 1867 - when Elizabeth was only 38 years old. It is unknown what happened to her.

Obituary: Mr. A. Evans was born in Tennessee Feb. 19, 1824; died March 26, 1909. He leaves to mourn his loss ten children and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren, besides a great number of friends. He was converted and joined the Baptist church while very young and has always led a faithful Christian life. He was married twice. To the first union there were born ten sons and two daughters, and to the second, four sons and one daughter.
The body was laid to rest in the Mt Vernon Cemetery.
