She married Louis N. Brown, of Tampa, in 1950 and was at his side throughout their life: from University of Florida swim team days, through service in the U.S. Army at the winding down and cessation of the Korean War, during dental school years at Emory University and throughout the 41 years of an active and thriving dental practice in Tampa. In those busy years, Edith brought three children into the world. She devoted her life completely and joyfully to her family. She was a long-time active member of the Christian fellowship at Lake Carroll Baptist Church in Carrollwood and also enjoyed various community and professional dental associations.
In 2006, she was preceded in death by her husband, of 59 years, Dr. Louis N. Brown, Sr. 2006.
Edith is survived by her son, Dr. Louis N. Brown, Jr. (Anne); her daughter Ivie Harrington (Tom); her daughter Laura Dunbar (Rob); and her sister, Mary Jo Kruer (Carl, deceased.). Mema will be especially remembered and missed by her grandchildren, whom she loved with a love that knew no bounds: Kara Harrington, Betsy Brown, Cecilia Harrington and Cameron Brown.
