Signumd Nahm was born at Greunstadt, Bavaria, Germany 1 August 1863, being the son of Henry and Miriam Nahm. He attended school in his native land and at the age of 16 years came to America. In 1879 he came to New Mexico, where he entered the employ of the firm of Lowenstein and Straus. Two years later, with the late Fred Reuther, he established a mercantile business at Cuervo, New Mexico and remained their for nine years. In the year 1890 he came to Las Vegas and became connected with the firm of E. Rosenwald & Son, remaining with this firm for a number of years. About the year 1895 in company with the late Dan Stern he established the firm of Stern & Nahm. A few years later the late Jacob Stern was taken into the firm. Mr. Nahm was active in this firm until his death. In his business life he was know for his high honesty of purpose in all things.
