Herman Tanner, 73, of Vandalia died Thursday (March 20, 1980) in his home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday in Bisch & Son Funeral Home, Springfield, with visitation 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Hohlt Funeral Home, Vandalia. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Springfield. Memorials: Heart Fund.
Mr Tanner was born in Pana, son of Harry and Lena Gudder Tanner. He owned and operated Tanner Theaters, Vandalia, was a theater exhibiter for 50 years, past president and senior active member of the Vandalia Rotary Club, a Harris Fellow, past president of Vandalia Chamber of Commerce, a life time member of Pana Elks Club, a member of Vandalia Moose Lodge, the Vandalia Masons, the Ainad Temple, Temple of Israel Church of Springfield, and was pas worthy patron of the Order of Eastern Star. He married Billie Gaims in 1941.
Surviving are his wife, son, Marvin Joel of Dearborn, MO; daughter, Mrs Spencer (Beverly) Konicov of Cincinnati, OH; mother of Pana; brothers, George of Pana; Louis of Champaign; sisters, Rosa Tanner of Pana; Bernice Kalis of Des Moines, IA; four grandchildren.
