A native of Jonesville, he was the son of the late Autry and Rosa Blackwell Ivey.
He was a member of the Gilead Baptist Church. A 1954 graduate of Jonesville High School, he served as a judge for the Union County Future Farmers of America Dairy Cows in 1959. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War, serving from 1954 to 1959, and was a retired correctional officer with the S.C. Department of Corrections.
Surviving are two sons, Boyd and Lamar Ivey, both of Union; a sister, Vegia I. Gregory of Jonesville; a brother, Haskell Ivey of Union; and four grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Union Memorial Gardens conducted by the Revs. Alton Stone and Joe Stover. The family is at the home of a son, Boyd Ivey, 253 Shetley Road, and will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight at S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.
