Connel Manning was born March 28, 1936 in Haynesville, LA to Floyd Sr. and Odessa Manning. He was the second born child of seven children. He attended school in Louisiana and Arkansas. He began his career working on the railroad. While visiting his brother, Floyd, Jr. in Houston, TX, he decided to make Houston his home. He opened Manning Furniture and Refinishing in the late 60's. He dedicated his life to Christ at an early age. While in Houston, he met Ernestine Deloach. The two were married on March 21, 1959. From that union they had 4 children, Marilyn, Roderick, Patrick and De Shonda Manning. He was preceded in death by his wife Ernestine, his father Floyd, Sr., his sister Belma Jean Manning, 3 sisters-in-law: Dora Manning, Shirley Manning, and Ruby Cooper. He leaves to cherish his memory, his mother Odessa Manning; children Marilyn, Roderick, Patrick De Shonda Manning and daughter-in-law, Barbara, all of Houston. His grandchildren; Teonna, Dante' (Sade), Kevin, Joslym, Danielle, Marquise and Darion, all of Houston, Diondra of Dallas. HIs brothers; Floyd Jr., and Jerry (Jerlean) of Houston; D.R. (Glenda) of St. Louis. His sisters; Gatha (Andy) Lawson of Austin and Martha (Benell) James of Chicago. Five great-grand children. A host of nieces, nephews and friends.
